Ferntree Gully Toyota

Recently had a 40000 service and rear brake pads replaced at Ferntree Gully Toyota. Spent over $700. Toyota recommended front be replaced and new tyres at next service. After a week, car on braking started to shudder and steering vibrate. After two more weeks of this had to return car to Toyota to rectify the problem. Was without a car for another day. After inspection I was told I needed to now have the front brakes machined at a cost of $180. When I questioned why this work wasnt identified at the service they only apologised. Next I was also told I now needed to replace the tyres ( approx 250 each) plus balance and alignment. Again when questioned about this I was told by Matt that the mechanic did not check the tyre tread properly. So effectively, Toyota had provided me back a car after the initial service with tyres that needed to be replaced. Obviously, the quality control at Ferntree Gully needs a review. On the day of the return inspection I asked to speak to the manager. I was told by service staff they weren’t sure where he was so they called him. This was done a number of times through out the day. In the afternoon I was told he had not returned calls. The service staff also didn’t know if he was even at work that day as no one had been notified(4th Jan). When I asked who was therefore in charge, no one knew. Additionally, I was told I could pick up my car at the latest 2.45pm. I arrived at 3.15pm. After trying to find my key for 10 minutes they realised my car was still up on a hoist . Must have been sitting up there all day. In my view and based on my experience there are some significant issues at FTG Toyota. Obviously I could never have faith again that they service a car properly. I only received an apology from service staff, no contact from the service department manager, and an offer of a free wheel balance if I purchased tyres from them. I wonder what Toyota Australia Head Office management would think of this debacle. I would point out however Matt in Service Department provided very good service.

Great experience as purchasing new Corolla cross from Sam, friendly professional service 5 star for new car sales department. However terrible experience when I brought my used 09 Nissan Murano 70000 kms genuine one owner full service history for trade in, used car valuation person spent more than 30 min, test drove, took 30 pics, made 10 phone calls, then offered me $6000. I do understand car yard needs margin a bit and you could offer me $6k anyway, but you don’t need to waste my time, you can offer $6k within 1 min, as long as I got tiny little knowledge for current Australia used car market, I feel it’s an abuse. I ended up sold the car on Carsales for $15000 within 2 days. In conclusion, buy new car from FTG Toyota, never waste your time for trade in, they don’t respect your used car or time.
